The main reason we have created the Earthlinks sustainable directory is to inspire people for a change!
We honestly love all the beach clean-ups, but what about cutting the plastic production at its source?! What if we convince the world we don't actually need plastic or any other toxic materials. What about just using all this knowledge we have gathered the last centuries for creating a more sustainable world for all of us?
We at Earthlinks want to be part of this change. We want to use our knowledge and skills to help you find the alternatives you are looking for. We want to help small producers to gain more visibility on the market too.
How it all started?
Our concern has begun already in Europe, seeing how much plastic trash we generate throughout the week. But it grew even bigger while traveling in Asia and seeing the amount of plastic floating in the oceans. It literally breaks your heart to see nature struggle so much!
Fish, seabirds, sea turtles, and marine mammals can become entangled in or ingest plastic debris, causing suffocation, starvation, and drowning.
The ocean produces about 70% of the earth's oxygen. If we keep on breaking the marine ecosystem by poisoning its species, it will eventually turn against us. This same ecosystem is vital for our own existence. Every species we loose is effecting the whole chain and functionality of the natural cycle and triggering the climate change.
There is no point waiting for the governments, politicians and big companies to take the lead. We all have the power and responsibility to make a change within our own households. Let’s take a step back and rethink the way we live and how we have been using the earth resources.
Our knowledge and technology are so advance, we can massively reduce all the mess we have created. There are already many creators out there coming up with amazing ideas for sustainable alternatives. Let’s support their efforts and create a better future for all of us.
We have so much useful information about climate change, plastic and toxic pollution online, we no longer have the excuse we didn’t know.
Overproduction
The Earthlinks has been created as a tool to help you find sustainable gems online and to show you there are many alternatives to plastic products you daily use. But in the first place, we want you to understand that the best way to fight this eco-crisis is by consuming less!!
While creating Earthlinks we learned more about plastic pollution ourselves. We have fully realized that the best way to fight this issue is by taking care of the things we already have and making them last. Buy quality over quantity! Our world is flooded by products that end up in landfills after a very short life span. In our society, we buy things compulsively to cover up a lack of human connection.
Every time you are buying a new product consider if you really need it. Reducing material things in your life will give you more freedom and resources to enjoy other experiences. Get outside more and enjoy nature and the company of the people you love. Nature and human connection will give more long term happiness rather than the quick rush you get from buying material stuff. It will also give you more satisfaction knowing you are not trashing this planet!
